Chania, Crete

Trip Advisor Rating

The building itself is a monument that has been renovated with love and respect to the history of our heritage. Most of the Chania's Old Town was built by the Venetians in a bid to recreate a “Venice of the East”, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries during the town's 'cultural renaissance'. Subsequently the area was altered when the Ottoman Turks invaded and occupied the island for another 250 years or so.A great part of the urban and building architecture, as it survive through today, is due to the Venetians, who occupied Crete from the 13th till the 17th century. In 1645 Chania were conquered by the Ottoman Turks who though didn't introduce drastic changes to the urban planning, it was they who built or refurbished some of the more characteristic buildings which one can view today in the Old Town (Firkas Fortress, Yali-Tzamisι mosque, Venetian Lighthouse).Arches from the Venetian period are evident throughout the building inspiring an elegant and romantic atmosphere, while the unique fully restored Ottoman bath (Hammam) represents the main concept of the hotel's philosophy: serenity, luxury and relaxation. Our concept is prominent in each one of our unique suites & rooms equipped with the highest quality mattresses and cement sealed bathrooms, turning your stay into a truly delightful experience.

Getting There

The hotel is situated in the picturesque alleys of the old town of Chania within walking distance to the old port and several beautiful shops, bars and restaurants. Only minutes away on foot you can pay a visit to the archeological, maritime and folklore museums, the byzantine and Post-Byzantine Collection, the Venetian harbor with its lighthouse, the Synagogue, the mosque of the Janissaries (Yali-Tzamisi Mosque), the Center of Mediterranean Architecture and the Venetian Arsenali. Other local hallmarks such as the church of Trimartyri and the Municipal Market of Chania are nearby as well as the public stadium for those of you who do not want to miss out your regular workout. Transportation: Chania is a globally recognized travel destination in Southern Greece and is easily accessible by either airplane or boat. During the summer season there are several daily flights which land in “Ioannis Daskalogiannis” Airport of Chania from almost every part of Europe. Domestic flights from Athens include Aegean Airlines and Ryan Air which offer six flights daily. Another other way to access Chania is by boat. ANEK Lines maintains a daily schedule to Chania's Souda Port all year long departing from the port of Piraeus in Athens. Ioannis Daskalogiannis” Airport of Chania and Chania's Souda Port are in a 20 minute driving distance, the former 17 km and the latter 7 km away. The hotel doesn't offer a parking spot, as this part of the port is inaccessible to traffic, but in a 5-minute walking distance there is a free of charge municipal parking area (Plateia Talos) where our guests can safely park their car. Please inform the reception department about the exact hour of your arrival so we can arrange for your luggage transportation.
